Compound Bow Arrow Rests
Shoot-through arrow rests
Shoot-through arrow rests were once the most common type of arrow rest for archers. The installation is basic, the design is uncomplicated and the tool itself is user-friendly and reputable. Shoot-through arrow rest includes 2 prongs integrated with adjustable spacing that could reach around two-thirds of the total diameter of the arrow. Your arrow lies in the pierced cradle and placed in the aperture in the middle of the two spring-loaded prongs. If you shoot the arrow, the prongs tip downward and forward, generating additional clearance as the arrow progresses over. Once it happens, the two prongs flip back to their primary placement, ready for the next shot. The position of the arrow for these types of arrow rests must have the cock feather or vane to be directed downward to be able to successfully shoot between the prongs.
Containment arrow rests
These types of arrow rests are the most popular among hunters. This is because it prevents the arrow from falling from the rest. Like shoot-through arrows, containment arrow rests are easy to install and tune. These rests either encircle the arrow completely or concurrently touch the arrow in three different spots, strictly clutching the arrow until you shoot it. This is a great choice for young and newbie shooters since it allows them to concentrate their method and the shot rather than the arrow rest.
Drop away arrow rests
For serious archers, drop-away arrow rests prevent the touching by vertically falling below the arrow right after you take a shot. This will allow you to accurately hit your target without being disturbed by a movement. There are different types of drop-away arrow rests. Almost every drop-away arrow rest in the market are operated by the motion of your bow’s cable slide or buss cable. On the other hand, there are a number of bows operated by its forward inertia during the shot. There are even a few which uses balanced motion of your device’s each half. No doubt, these types of arrows have the most up-to-date designs in the market today. However, they are very expensive and best installed and tuned by a professional.
Other types of rests
Pressure rests or shoot-around rests are very common among finger archers. The rest squeezes back from the side to aid support the horizontal arrow swinging generated when using the fingers to release the arrow. For shooters with older bows, standard flippers or spring rests are recommended to aid the center-shot type of older models.
